The solid core expands to include extra-killy armored blender infantry that come with a skirmisher variant, elite archer skirmishers, elite defensive infantry, elite killy infantry, and a wide variety of monsters to experiment with.You have your Defensive Anti-Cavalry shielded infantry, your killy anti-infantry infantry, your archers (With shields!), and effective light cavalry. The Dark Elf combat mechanic helps you quickly resolve battles you're already winning, and clutch out a victory from battles you're losing, making them more forgiving to learn.And their Darkshards are good counter-archers due to their shields, while also being good archers due to their damage and AP. The Dark Elves are very responsive in battle - They kill fast, and die fast, meaning it's easy to learn mistakes and good plays.You can make and break deals at your own leisure. You can make allies to the East and South until you no longer need them - You're the Evil Emperor. Malekith's starting point is a secure corner of the map that naturally expands in any direction you want to go.Malekith is an excellent lord who's good in melee and with magic, so you can experiment with battlefield magic, while he's also sturdy enough to mix things up in melee if you lose track of him.It's hard to have loyalty problems with him, and it's alright to not optimize Slavery. Dark Elves have some fiddly mechanics, but Malekith makes them effectively non-issues.And the High Elf battle mechanic harshly punishes mistakes and encourages passive play. You'll also probably hamper yourself diplomatically trying to be "The Hero" out to save the world from itself. Your army will be boring Spears, Archers, and half-dozen flavors of Pigeon throughout the entire game, if you don't get bored by Turn 10. Managing Intrigue and Heroes is a fiddly chore. Tyrion has limited interactivity that, while hard to get into a bad matchup, can't escape easily on the battlefield. High Elves will leave you stranded on the donut after defeating your starting foe faffing about with allies until you get surprise attacked by Pirates out of seemingly nowhere. However, it should work with almost every other mod, even with mods that change another campaign's startpos. Campaign overhauls are usually not compatible with a mod like this.
